Major Bloom and Green Island Neighborhood Center’s Holiday Collaboration: Spreading Joy and Giving Back to the Community

The holiday season is known as a time of joy. But, for some families, this time of year is stressful. Major Bloom knows that many of its neighbors in Worcester’s Green Island are low-income residents who may not have the resources to provide children with a robust celebration. To make a meaningful impact this season, Major Bloom is partnering with the Green Island Neighborhood Center, a local non-profit that provides resources to underserved communities, such as food, clothing, and children’s toys. Major Bloom sees hundreds of customers daily in the heart of Worcester, at 76 Millbury St., and offers exclusive flower and pre-roll products for customers who donate toys.

Customers who bring in toys for children from infancy to age 16 receive a $10 eighth of their choice of selected flowers or pre-rolls. This collaborative effort is of paramount importance because of the unique circumstances of the Green Island neighborhood. With a demographic primarily consisting of minority and low-income residents, many families struggle to make ends meet. The Green Island Neighborhood Center is a vital resource, offering material assistance and a sense of community and support. Providing toys during the holiday season is a critical component of their outreach, as it brings smiles to the faces of children who might otherwise go without during a celebration. By collaborating with Major Bloom, the center can expand its impact and reach even more children, making a significant positive difference in their lives.

Major Bloom, an equity cannabis business, has garnered significant attention for its commitment to equality and social responsibility. This collaboration is a testament to its dedication to supporting the community that supports Major Bloom. By working hand-in-hand with the Green Island Neighborhood Center, Major Bloom is giving children holiday cheer and actively involving the cannabis community in a positive and philanthropic initiative. This alignment of values between the non-profit sector and the cannabis industry demonstrates the potential for businesses to make a positive social impact beyond their core operations.

This incentive encourages participation and fosters a sense of shared responsibility within the community. It highlights how businesses like Major Bloom can leverage their resources to facilitate charitable activities and generate goodwill among customers. This approach creates a win-win situation where the business and the community benefit from their collective efforts.

Major Bloom is Black-owned and sets the standard for community involvement for its peers. All licensed cannabis companies in Massachusetts must provide their regulators with a Positive Impact Plan, which the CCC reviews for licensing renewal. The plan outlines how businesses will positively impact communities harmed by cannabis prohibition. The collaboration between the Green Island Neighborhood Center and Major Bloom is a shining example of how local businesses can engage with non-profits to address the unique needs of underserved communities. It underscores the power of partnership in spreading joy, uplifting disadvantaged children, and building a sense of community. By aligning their values and resources, these entities positively impact residents’ lives and set a commendable precedent for socially responsible business practices in Worcester and beyond.
